However, if you are in a non-inertial reference frame (i.e. Accelerating), you acceleration will mean that the stone will not share your velocity in the horizontal direction, and will move towards or away relative to you (horizontally) as it falls straight down.
Remember that Newtonian/Gallilean relatively states that the laws of physics hold true for all inertial reference frames, i.e. All inertial frames are equivalent and relative to one another. Also, if you are in an inertial reference frame, it is impossible to perform any experiment that will enable you to determine whether you are at rest or moving with constant velocity.

I never really had the interest to study or learn more in the past, but when I read just a few paragraphs, it sounded so much better than any novel that I could read.
